“Americans sure do love their Christmas lights,” writes Sid Perkins in ScienceShot, an online publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. NASA scientists suggest it’s a light that even aliens orbiting Earth could notice.
Data from weather satellites suggest lights in some major U. S. cities glow 20 to 50 percent more during the Christmas and New Year Holidays than other times of the year. It begins on Black Friday and continues until after New Year’s Day.
Increasingly, the lights of choice for the holiday season are LEDs, Light Emitting Diodes, an option that lasts longer and uses up to 90 percent less electricity than traditional incandescent bulbs. Consumer Reports suggests that some holiday LED lights claim to last 100,000 hours!
In her recent meditation, Rev. Judy White-Wunder, pastor of the Bluff Point United Methodist Church, introduced her congregation to a LED light that will never go out. That light is Jesus Christ, a Light, Eternal and Divine (LED).
The love, compassion and forgiveness that is available to each one of us who believe Jesus is a Light, Eternal and Divine does not cost a penny. All that is required is a connection. Are you connected to the Light, Eternal and Divine that is Jesus?
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
